"From childhood, many hours were spent in Catholic cathedrals, staring at stain-glass and sculptures. This was my first recognition of art as atmosphere, as emotion, and it initiated a desire to see more art.  Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, the seventh of eleven children, school was used as a way to travel and expand  (Loyola University-New Orleans, Vanderbilt University, University of Arkansas and the University of Texas).  I initially became an Advance Nurse Practitioner, then while working as a Nurse Practitioner, went on to get an art education.  Now self-employed as a sculptor and an artist, I live in the mountains of Arkansas.

Cynthia Kresse received her Master of Arts in Medical Illustration from the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas. Self-employed as an artist and a sculptor, Kresse’s artwork is displayed in exhibits and galleries regionally. She has taught life drawing at the Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock, and the Eureka Springs School of the Arts.  For five years, Kresse created the weekly cartoon “Chakra People” for local paper, Lovely County Citizen. She also provides physicians and lawyers with medical illustrations for medical texts, lectures and legal cases. As a part of a volunteer medical team, she has traveled to San Marcos, Honduras to provide medical care.  Kresse is on the medical staff and sees patients at the non-profit, all volunteer ECHO clinic, which provides free medical care to low-income people in Northwest Arkansas. Currently she is employed part-time at a rural clinic as an Advance Practice Nurse Practitioner, which allows a studio schedule and supports her art career.
