Sample a collection of the works of Cynthia Kresse, artist, sculptor and medical illustrator. Kresse lives and works in Eureka Springs, located in the Ozark mountains of Arkansas.

Rural life has an influence on her artwork, not only in the subject matter, but in her use of light. Away from the glow of city lights, Kresse studies the subtle colors of dawn and dusk, the creation of silhouettes, and the contrast in the qualities of natural versus artificial light.

Her sculptural work is a very immediate form of expression, the figures emerge from the clay without preconception or the use of a model. The sculptures are high-fired clay, hand-built and one of a kind, glazed in the natural colors of the surrounding mountains.
