Sample a collection of the works of Cynthia Kresse, artist, sculptor and medical illustrator. Kresse lives and works in Eureka Springs, a Victorian village located in the Ozark mountains of Arkansas.

”Rural life has an influence on my artwork, not only in the subject matter, but in the use of light. Far from the city's glow, dawn and dusk linger. I can appreciate the subtle colors of each, and notice the creation of silhouettes. The country darkness allows me to see contrasting qualities in natural versus artificial light.

My sculptural work is a very immediate form of expression; the figures emerging from the clay without preconception or use of a model. The sculptures are high-fired clay, hand-built and one of a kind, glazed in the natural colors of the surrounding mountains.”.
