Sculptures
Clay
As I push around a mound of clay, figures reveal themselves and I just follow the form through. I am not concerned with polished, finished or plastic-like sculptures. I want the roughness of the clay shape to still be there in places. It seems important to leave areas unfinished for the viewer to fill in, that tension of the finished versus unfinished. My sculptural work is a very immediate form of expression; the figures emerging from the clay without preconception or use of a model. The sculptures are high-fired clay, hand-built and one of a kind, glazed in natural colors.
